NATURAL DYES WORKSHOP

Spend a day exploring the beautiful array of colours that can be achieved using natural dyes.

Join Fran Reilly, Textile Artist & Dr Mary Harlow, Textile Historian to explore the variety of colours that can be achieved by using plants from the garden.  We will experiment dyeing wool skeins, silk and cotton fabric with at least 3 different dye vats.

In this workshop we will show you how to collect and prepare plants to create a natural dye bath.  We will explain how the fabric is prepared ready to take the dyes.

During the morning we will make up the dye baths together and experiment with dyeing wool, silk and cotton pieces.
We will create a colour log so you will have a record of the effect of different dye baths on the different samples.

In the afternoon we will mix up some of the colours to create an array of blended colours so that by the end of the day you will have a beautiful selection of fabric and wool in a range of colours.

Investment: £105

Workshop includes:
Tea/coffee and plenty of cake (bring packed lunch)
